Throughout this month, there have been moments when I’ve felt too drained, either mentally or emotionally, to put my fingers to the keyboard and type out anything beyond gibberish. Right now is among those moments. But something I’ve done every day this month is type anyway. I type and type and type until my goal is met.
I am by no means an expert on achieving goals. My fitness goal of exercising at least 30 minutes a day this month has fallen by the wayside more than once or twice or thrice. But I did stick with two goals. And I’m proud of that. Beyond the enjoyment I feel at actually meeting goals even when I feel depleted, I have a new sense of possibility I did not possess on January 31. I’ve seen what I can do when I act on a goal instead of just mulling it over.
Not every word written this month is a gem. Not every blog post has been riveting. Not every paragraph will be saved when it comes time to cull my word herd. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is the writing. What matters is proving to myself I am trustworthy. What matters is the action.
Oh look. I’m done with today’s post. Whew!
