Day 1: The Whys and Wherefores

Happy first day of June! Today begins my first blogathon experience, in which I post on this site every day in June. I chose to participate in this activity because I need to step up a bit in a my writing practice. Since attending The Sun Magazine’s writing retreat in April, I’ve been half-working on quite a few writing projects while continuing to write for my paid job. This site has been a bit neglected despite my best intentions thanks to all those other writing projects. After writing and reading for hours and hours for work or other projects, the last thing I generally want to do is plant myself in front of the computer again and write new content for P&O.

To grow as a writer, to expand and open myself up to new experiences, I know I need to challenge myself further. Hence, the blogathon. I can write one post a day for 30 days even if it is not always something I want to do. It will be a lesson learned, an experiment tried, a journey taken. I’m looking forward to it. Unlike other more organized bloggers, I do not have a theme for this event. I’m just flying by the seat of my pants on this one. I’d love it if you stuck with me on this. Realistically, every post is not going to be a home run but I appreciate you reading the posts anyway, because I can use the support on this next leg of the journey. And I’ll try to include a few fabulous posts along the way.

Happy Saturday, my friends and readers. I’ll see you tomorrow!

  1. I’m really looking forward to the bloghaton too! I always enjoy reading your posts, I often think about how good you are at putting words on your thoughts, without selling your privacy. It’s a thin line. Have a great weekend& all the best of luck in the bloghaton :)

    • Thank you so much for your encouragement and supportive words, Maria! It makes me so happy to know that someone thinks I can strike a balance between being truthful and too exhibitionist. It really is a hard balance to strike sometimes. It’s really encouraging to me to know that you think I do that well. Good luck to you in the blogathon, too!
